Lee Ryan to headline debut of Love Fashion Live! Show in town centre

Local models and college students will be strutting their stuff this month as Swindon's town centre launches its biggest fashion show to date.

The Love Fashion Live! Show is a first for Swindon's town centre, with singer-songwriter and actor Lee Ryan headlining the event.

On Friday 10 May at CitiFaith, Regent Street, local models, New College make-up students and retailers will be taking to the runway thanks to a collaborative initiative brought in by inSwindon BID and The Brunel Shopping Centre.

Hosted by The Secret Stylist, Natasha Musson, the catwalk will showcase lines from Evans, House of Fraser Outlet, M&S, Miss Selfridge, River Island, Skopes, Yours and Wallis. Lee Ryan will also perform an acoustic set followed by a Q&A.

inSwindon BID CEO Di Powell said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Lee Ryan to this new event. He is sure to bring something very special to the show and we hope Swindon will give him a warm welcome whilst supporting our local fashion retailers and community members who are involved in the event.”

The Brunel Centre Manager, Jane Stewart added: “We are really pleased Love Fashion Live is back for 2019; last year’s event was a great success and The Brunel received a lot of positive feedback.

"I’m delighted that, this year, we have been able to work together with our partners to bring an even better event to Swindon Town Centre.”

Local models of all shapes and sizes are taking part. Nicole Cox from Swindon is currently Miss East Midlands, former Miss Wiltshire, former Pure International Miss United Kingdom and is also currently studying Engineering at University. Joining her will be a line-up of local ladies including blonde bombshell Sharon Woodhouse, Swindon’s original Diana Dors lookalike and a fuller figure curve model who has done a variety of reality TV shows, adverts, presenting and a radio show, with a natural passion for 1950s vintage glamour and an advocate for promoting curves in a positive light.

New College Media Make-up students will also be providing professional make-up and hair for the models taking part. Hair and Media Makeup Course Leader Gemma Mulrooney said, “Media Make-up at New College are delighted to collaborate with Swindon town centre to create exciting makeup and hair looks for the catwalk for Love Fashion Live, we hope you enjoy this visual extravaganza and are inspired!”

Free events take place from 1 to 31 May and include a Personalisation Station on 18-19th May where Boots and Aqua-G will be offering free express treatments on The Brunel Upper Plaza from 11am to 3pm. New College will be hosting a Body Art Boutique on 25 to 26 May in The Brunel Lower Arcade from 11-3pm with body painting demo’s, face painting and glitter transfers, whilst Family Fashion Corner Crafts will take place inside The Brunel Lower Arcade from 11am to 3pm on 31 May.

An exclusive Secret Style with The Brunel takes place on Monday 20 May from 7pm to 9.30pm showcasing even more fashion and beauty and includes free goody bags and more with The Secret Stylist and Swindon’s own national TV and Beauty Expert, Gina Akers. The month long campaign kicks off with a free Beauty Hub, taking place this Saturday 4 May at The Parade 11-5pm and features beauty stations and a personal stylist on site to give advice on the latest fashions available in the town centre, there will also be an online competition to at www.theparadeswindon.co.uk.
