A Swindon man has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to drink driving.
Sean Ashley West, 30, of Hazel Grove, Pinehurst, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday May 13. He also pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance.
As well as the prison sentence, he was also disqualified from driving for 52 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
On May 13 2019, West was seen driving a Ford Fusion in Long Street, Devizes. He was seen to contravene a no entry sign into the High Street and attempt a u-turn which attracted officers attention.
He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.
Local crime investigator Sam Hagan said: “I am pleased that a custodial sentence has been issued and West will be disqualified from the roads for a lengthy period of time.
“Getting behind the wheel of a car whilst intoxicated is just not worth the risk – you are putting lives, including your own, in serious danger and your actions could have serious consequences.”
If you suspect someone of drink driving, call 101 or 999 if the crime is in progress.
