Michael Jordan Cook, aged 23, of Pear Tree Way, Bristol, appeared at Swindon Crown Court last week (9/5/19) for sentencing.

He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and one count of breaching bail and was handed a 40-month prison sentence, as well as being ordered to pay £170 victim surcharge.

The charge relates to a break-in at a property in Blunsdon on 11 December 2018, where Cook smashed a first floor window to gain entry and search the upstairs of the house. Nothing was stolen.

Det Con Jared Yalden, from the Swindon Community Tasking Team, based at Gablecross Police Station, said: “Cook is a prolific offender who had only recently been released from prison when he committed this offence.

“A large proportion of our burglaries are committed by a small number of perpetrators, so it is important that we take action and get convictions wherever possible.

“We hope this sends a message to other criminals in the Swindon area – we are committed to tackling burglary and bringing offenders to justice.”
