A brand-new town centre summer festival will be coming to Swindon next month, bringing with it its very own beach party.
August will see the return of the popular Urban Beach included amongst a variety of activities for the Swindon Town Centre Summer Festival, between 1 and 31 August.
Organised by inSwindon BID Company, the new Town Centre Summer Festival will bring a taste of the seaside to Wharf Green once more with the Urban Beach Experience from 1 to 8 August, complete with deckchairs, buckets and spades, children’s rides, seaside music, food, beach Olympics, workshops, stalls and a GIANT deck chair for those summer holiday photo opportunities, from 10 to 5pm daily - all completely free.
The Summer Festival will also include activities taking place across the town including The Brunel Shopping Centre, The Parade and Regent Circus as well as town centre venues MECA, The Wyvern, Shoebox Theatre, Swindon Dance, Central Library, Pubs and more - celebrating everything on offer throughout the Summer holidays.
inSwindon BID CEO, Di Powell said “After the success of last year’s Urban Beach we are thrilled to be growing this event and providing a whole programme of activity for everyone to enjoy across the Summer holidays. We feel it’s a chance for the whole family to get together this Summer and experience something unique and family friendly right on their doorstep, whilst taking advantage of being able to shop, grab a drink or a bite to eat.”
The Urban Beach Experience will also feature a selection of extra daily activities each day between 11 to 3pm for visitors to enjoy free, including:
- Thursday 1st August - Sand Art Workshop
- Friday 2 August - Family Beach Olympics
- Saturday 3 August - Beach Aerobics
- Sunday 4 August - Beach FOTO Booth
- Monday 5 August - Punch & Judy Shows
- Tuesday 6 August - Beach Fitness
- Wednesday 7 August - Family Beach Party
inSwindon BID are also looking to welcome local community groups, clubs and bands to use the spaces free of charge and perform or promote themselves across the Festival month as well as perform at the Family Beach Party on 7th August. For more information contact [email protected].
