Drugs, cash and weapons have been seized during a continued crack down on drug dealing in Eldene and Liden.
Following on from warrants a few weeks ago, the Community Tasking Team visited an address in the Liden area on Friday (26/07/19), where they seized a machete, a baseball bat and a small amount of cannabis.
Plain clothes officers then stopped a 16-year-old boy while out on patrol in Eldene and found him in possession of more than 50 wraps of what is believed to be heroin and cocaine, £500 in cash, two mobile phones and a locking knife.
He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a knife.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
PC Victoria Barker, from the Community Tasking Team, said: “We know the local communities in this area of Swindon are concerned about drug dealing and we would like to thank everyone for their support while we carry out this proactive work.
“We do appreciate that the vast majority of people in Eldene and Liden want to help the police and I want to thank everyone who provides information that assists with our enquiries – we do act on intelligence and we are making a difference every time we seize illegal drugs and disrupt illegal activity.”
Locking knives, like the one seized and pictured, are illegal and it is a crime to carry one in public.
Evidence shows that people who carry knives are statistically more likely to be injured themselves with a knife and we have been carrying out education and awareness work to stop young people from carrying weapons.
