A wine bar in Old Town is launching a brand-new event for Swindon's LGBTQ+ community.

As of October Yard 93 - a wine bar on Victoria Road - will be hosting a regular LGBTQ+ event on the second Saturday of every month in colloboration with Swindon & Wiltshire Pride.

From Saturday 12 October Swindon and Wiltshire's LGBTQ+ community will begin a new chapter since venues such as The Pink Rooms and The Mailcoach closed its doors.

Yard 93 owner, Louise Field, said: “We have been talking to members of the LGBTQ community and it was very clear they wanted a place to go, where they can socialise with like minded people, enjoying a night out and feel comfortable.

“Themed venues and nights are always popular; Irish bars, music bars and R&B nights, and this is no different. Come and join us for the launch night on Saturday 12 October.”

Swindon & Wiltshire Pride say that although laws may have changed the need for a safe space remains as important as ever, which is why the group are championing the move.

Phoenix Stewart, from the organisation, said: “Queer venues have always been a place of historic importance, a space to be yourself and find their place in the community. So, it’s fantastic to see the team at Yard 93 creating a new piece of history for the LGBTQ community of Wiltshire.”

The night will be held at Yard 93 in Old Town, on the second Saturday of the month, from Saturday 12 October.
