Following the event's debut last year, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery are inviting creatives to submit their work for its Open Art Exhibition.

Successful entrants - selected by a panel of judges - will have their work displayed for a month (19 November till 19 December) in the institutes' gallery space. Artists have until 24 October to submit their work.

A spokesperson for the event said: "This open exhibition is an excellent opportunity for artists to demonstrate and showcase their artistic skills and creative vision and exhibit their work in a prestigious gallery environment.

"It is also an ideal way to celebrate the rich and diverse skills of local and regional artists with a wider audience."

There will be three prizes awarded during the exhibition: icanFRAME are offering a £100 voucher; and the Friends of Swindon Museum & Art Gallery will be giving a £100 cash prize. Both icanFRAME and Friends of Swindon Museum and Art Gallery will be selecting their winners.

New this year also is the People's Choice Award, which will be chosen by the public. Voting will take place during the exhibition where visitors can pick their favourite work and the winner will be announced after the exhibition closes. The winner will receive a £50 gift voucher from Oink Gallery in Old Town.

Submissions of work must be made by 24 October. Artists can submit up to three pieces of original work which will be judged by an independent panel and successful works will be displayed in the exhibition. All art work will be available for purchase and can be collected before Christmas.

Applications to enter are made online via the Museum and Art Gallery website www.swindonmuseumandartgallery.org.uk
