A multinational bus company has extended its timetable - now Swindon travellers coming back from London can benefit from early morning departures.
Swindon travellers heading back from London are being offered a new late-night bus service from National Express.
The nation’s appetite for a 24-hour society is being reflected in the changing habits of Swindon’s travellers according to recent figures from the UK’s largest coach operator.
National Express has reported significant demand in the first six months of operation of a number of new late-night and weekend services, including a 73% growth in passengers travelling on the 443 between Swindon and the Capital.
John Boughton, Commercial Director at National Express UK Coach, said: "Earlier this year, we launched new services with early morning and late-night departures between London and a number of UK cities, and the response has been hugely positive.
“First came all-night petrol stations, followed by round-the-clock supermarkets. Night buses have operated within major cities for years, yet options for late-night travel between the Capital and other cities has been limited up until now.
“Time is precious and people are being smart in how they use the early hours of the morning. These services allow travellers to spend longer in the Capital without the worry of how to get home or the added cost of an overnight stay.”
Other popular new late-night services introduced have increased connections between London with cities including Cardiff, Nottingham, Leicester and Bristol.
Boughton added: "We have plans to launch more late-night services to cater for our nation of night owls by the end of the year to locations including Manchester, Cambridge and Suffolk."
The 443 departs London Victoria Coach Station at 02:00 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, arriving at Swindon Bus Station at 04:15.
