A son whose father received care from a local hospice has announced the date of his next annual fundraising golf day.
Keen golfer Ian Rumbold organised the first event in 2018 in memory of his dad Stewart who received end of life care from the team at Prospect Hospice. Now his event will reach its third year Sunday 30 August 2020.
After its success, the event was held again in 2019 and the two events combined have seen over 60 golfers raise over £8,000 for charity that cares for patients with a life limiting illness, and their family and carers, across Swindon and north-east Wiltshire.
Ian said: “I’m so thankful to everyone who has supported me with these events over the last couple of years I’m pleased to announce the third one will take place on Sunday 30 August 2020 at Bowood Golf and Country Club.
"I’d love to hear from players that have come along before but am also keen to see some new faces at the tee who wish to join me in this enjoyable day and help raise money for the Prospect Hospice.”
Vikki Rath, community and events fundraiser at Prospect Hospice added: “On behalf of the charity, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Ian and everyone that’s supported him in making this golf day such a success.
"I know that Ian was keen to give back to the hospice after we cared for his dad and it takes a lot to organise such an event. I also know that, above all, he wanted to make his dad proud and he’s done much more than that.”
Tee time begins at 10.30am and places are priced at £300 for a team of four. The day includes 18 holes of golf, refreshments, bacon roll and evening meal where a raffle and prize giving will take place. Organisers are also keen to hear from any sponsors who would like to get involved as opportunities are available at £100 per hole.
