A woman was arrested in Swindon on Wednesday (13/11) on suspicion of money laundering and managing a brothel.
The arrest was made by officers during a warrant conducted at an address in Commercial Road.
A woman aged in her 50s was taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning and has since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.
PC Paul Bezzant said: “Back in July an initial welfare visit was conducted at the address by Community Policing Team officers supported by the Adult Sexual Exploitation Team. This was conducted due to concerns that the premises was being used as a brothel.
“Continued community intelligence indicated that the premises was still being used in this manner and this subsequently resulted in the execution of the warrant and arrest earlier this week.”
A Closure Notice was initially put in place at the premises to prevent further criminal activity occurring and today (15/11) a full Closure Order was applied for at Swindon Magistrates Court.
This order was granted and as a result the business which was being run from the premises – Oriental Healthy Massage – has been closed down for a period of three months, prohibiting anyone from entering the premises.
