The final push is here, the Mad March Hare team are busy organising the 13 Mad March Hare which takes place on Sunday 22 March.

The event in aid of Breast Cancer NOW takes place this year on Mothers Day and organisers are calling participants to take advantage of this and sign up as a family to celebrate the special day!

For those who can’t make the event . the organising team are encouraging them to get fit and complete the event virtually with friends or family, medals are then posted out after evidence is emailed into the email account.

Entrants receive the same medal and 100% of the fees still go direct to Breast Cancer Now! The fun event sees around 500 entrants each year, starting and finishing at Lydiard Park School, it welcomes people of all ages and abilities (and even four legged friends) to get out and enjoy taking exercise. This year we will see large numbers of children from the Blue Kite Trust who will take part in the first ever Mini Mad March Hare which will take place ahead of the main 5 & 10k.

This is following the fabulous numbers from Abbey Meads Primary who took part last year. Event Team Member Esther Newman says ‘We are so proud of our supporters, each year we see familiar faces taking part and marshalling, it really is a great community event and with it being Mothers Day we are hoping to welcome families this year either with their mothers or grandmothers or in memory of loved ones.

This year we have already been contacted by some to let us know that their children will be taking part in their first ever 5k event and to see the smiles on their faces proudly showing off their medals will be so rewarding.

Without the support of the Swindon community we would not be in our 13th year and we want to thank each and every person who has ever taken part and we hope you will join us again this year to make it our best year yet!

What makes this a great event is that 100% of the entrants fees go to Breast Cancer Now, we also don’t have minimum donation targets which can add pressure to families taking part.

This is what makes the event special, we want people to come together, raise awareness of Breast Cancer and get fitter as a result. With the added bonus to allow entrants to complete the virtual run there has never been a better
time to sign up, the team is hoping to make lucky year 13 the best Mad March Hare to date. To take part or volunteer at the event please log on to http://www.madmarchhare.org.uk/ , email at [email protected] or call 0845 6808064.
