Detectives investigating a stabbing in Haydon Wick are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened in an alleyway close to Morrisons supermarket at around 4.30pm last Wednesday (19/02).

A 14-year-old boy suffered a stab wound to his arm. His injury was not life-threatening.

An 18-year-old man from Ogbourne St George was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, formally interviewed and released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.

Det Con Helen Carrick, from Swindon CID, said: “We know this incident will have caused concern amongst the local community, particularly given the young age of the victim.

“I want to reassure people that we are carrying out a thorough investigation and although we made a quick arrest, we do still need to speak to witnesses who may be able to assist us.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the car park between 4.20pm and 4.30pm on the evening of the incident. We would specifically like to speak to two workmen wearing overalls who we believe approached the victim and provided assistance in the immediate aftermath of the assault.”

Anyone who can help should call Swindon CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54200017739. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
