In Celebration of World Book Night, the Central Library presents an evening of crime and intrigue, featuring #1 bestselling author Kimberley Chambers.
Pop into the library for a very special event on Thursday 20 April to mark World Book Night, an annual celebration of reading, run by national charity, The Reading Agency, which aims to reach people who don’t regularly pick up a book.
As an organisation, Swindon Libraries are delighted to have 166 copies of Sunday Times #1 bestselling author Kimberley Chamber’s ‘ Payback’ to distribute around Swindon.
They are also honoured to welcome Kimberley to headline a pre- World Book Night evening of crime and intrigue on Thursday 20th April, from 6.30-8.30pm at Central Library.
TAINTED LOVE was a Sunday Times #1 bestseller in hardback, spent 4 consecutive weeks in the top ten and is her biggest selling hardback to date. Her explosive new novel Backstabber is out now.
Join them for a Q& A session with Kimberley, followed by an opportunity to meet the author as she signs her books.
The evening will also have a local flavour, provided by two special guest speakers.
Leonard Curtis: Two Shades of Blue and a Trilby, the autobiography of former Swindon police officer Leonard Curtis provides a fascinating insight not only into growing up in Swindon, but also to a colourful life in the Royal Navy and as a detective for Swindon CID. Join us for a talk and lively Q&A session.
Join respected local Swindon writer and historian Frances Bevan as she discusses two local murders. In the early 1900s Swindon residents were shocked by the cold blooded murders of two young ladies: one at the Goddard Arms and the other at The Ship Inn. For one, Swindonians paid for a memorial in Radnor Street Cemetery, the other had no public sympathy and locals wrote letters demanding a stay of execution for her killer! Why this difference in public opinion?
