The annual Swindon Sports Quiz, organised by chartered accountants MHA Monahans, has this year raised £2,260 for charity; the highest amount raised since the charity quiz’s inception 28 years ago.

A total of 46 local teams pitted their sports knowledge at Swindon County Ground, battling it out to scoop the prestigious winning trophy.  The winning team was the ‘Pot Bellies’ consisting of Martin Baker, Mark Haywood, Paul Francome and Paul Vaues.

Three local charities will benefit from the money raised; the Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK Wiltshire and the Oak and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre.

The quiz includes rounds on sporting general knowledge and topical sporting events.  This year special rounds were held on the 2019 Ashes series, Six Nations Rugby, the World Athletics Championships and the Rugby World Cup.  The questions were written by retired MHA Monahans’ employee David Roblin and the night was made all the more special by the team at MHA Monahans in Swindon, who come together every year to create a memorable event for all involved.

Simon Tombs, Managing Partner for MHA Monahans commented: “The quiz has become a regular fixture in the Swindon calendar and we get people contacting us six months in advance wishing to take part!  We have many worthy charities in Swindon so it’s great to be able to organise an event to support them.”
