Youngsters at Brook Field Primary School in Shaw are able to get a taste of modern art as they move around their school, passing some of the 11 doorways featuring pictures in the style of famous artists.

They were created by teaching assistant Lin Jennings after headteacher Dan Clarke asked her to brighten up the interior of the school. She said: “He was keen to create more surprises and knew I was interested in modern art. I don’t paint as a hobby but had experience in scaling up and copying artworks for school theatre productions.

“Children love to see an artwork evolving and they always stimulate a lot of discussion in the classroom and in the playground.”

Lin retired earlier in the year to look after her grandson but hopes to return to Brook Field to continue her project. She would also be interested in discussing commissions at other schools.
