Pupils and staff at Oliver Tomkins Church of England Primary School in Toothill receive a daily blast of visual stimulation when they make their way to the school hall.

Keen artist Hayley Kirkland, who is a teaching assistant at the school, was asked to brighten up a dark corridor. Taking her cue from the early 1960s pop art movement, she created a riot of colour with the help of Swindon College art student Shannon Smith.

Hayley, pictured below, said: “It was a lot of fun adapting and blending together design ideas from different artists like Roy Lichenstein’s dot paintings and including cupcakes in the style of Andy Warhol. Not many children know about them, but the influence started to appear in our last creative arts week.”
