Attempted robbery at Old Town bookmakers, Swindon

Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery at the Betfred bookmakers on Devizes Road, Old Town, Swindon.

Around 6.50pm on Friday 17 February 2017 a male entered the store threatened staff and demanded money.  No money was handed over, the unknown suspect then left the shop and made off on foot.

His description is:  white, 5ft 10" tall, of slight build, blue/green eyes with a local accent.  He was wearing a khaki green Parka-style jacket with a fur lined hood worn up; he also had a multi coloured scarf across his face.

Det Con Tom Turner said:  "We would like to speak to anyone who was in this area around this time.

"Old Town is a busy area, especially on a Friday evening - someone must have seen or heard something; either someone acting suspiciously or some sort of suspicious activity, perhaps someone running away from this shop?"
