Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones, the award winning ultra marathon along the Ridgeway from Lewknor in Oxfordshire to the Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire, is taking place on 14 and 15 July.

More than 2,500 people from all over the country and abroad will join local Oxfordshire residents to complete the route.

Adam Blad, 29, from Swindon, Wiltshire, (near the end of the Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones) currently just over 19 stone having lost nearly 10 stone, is walking the route. Deciding to sign up he said: “Mainly because I have spent the majority of my life saying and thinking I can’t do anything. I like to prove myself wrong and on the way show other people they can do the same."

Everyone will walk, jog or run 100km along the spectacular Ridgeway from Lewknor in Oxfordshire to the stone circle at Avebury, non-stop or over two days staying overnight at the festival camp where there will be tents, massages, hot showers, delicious hot food, cold drinks and live entertainment.

Nick Tuppen, CEO, Threshold Sports, which organises Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones said: “Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones is all about getting people out and about for mental health and physical wellbeing. Everybody’s welcome. There will be some very fit athletes who run the course, as well as lots of people who want to walk at a much more relaxed pace over two days.

“It’s a tough challenge for anyone, however they take the route, but the spectacular views and great atmosphere will keep everyone motivated. And we’ve got pit stops every 10km full of treats as well as a festival camp with hot power showers, massages and mountains of delicious food. The trick is to keep one foot going in front of the other and relish the achievement at the finish line."
