BREAKING NEWS: Detectives release CCTV images of suspects in 'snooker ball in sock' attacks

UPDATED: Police have identified two of the youths and have asked us to remove the CCTV images and they are now appealing for information regarding the last remaining suspect

Detectives have released CCTV images of three youths they would like to speak to in relation to a string of violent robberies in which the victims, including Swindon Link editor Jamie Hill, were attacked with a weapon believed to be a snooker ball in a sock.

In the early hours of 3 June 2018, four men in separate incidents were victims of a group of youths intent on stealing their wallets and phones.

The first happened in a park area next to Charlotte Mews, in Old Town, at some time before 3.30am. The victim, Link Editor Jamie Hill was hit on the head and his wallet was stolen.

The second incident occurred in Gorse Hill around Ferndale Road and Cricklade Road, during which a young man was chased and assaulted, before his wallet, cash, and items of clothing were taken.

The third happened at 5.05am in Dorcan Way, east Swindon, when the victim, a man in his 20s, was approached and threatened by a group of youths. They chased him to the mini roundabout junction with Kingfisher Drive and assaulted him, before stealing his phone and wallet.

The fourth incident happened at around 5.45am in Queen's Drive, east Swindon, when a man in his 20s was assaulted by a group of youths. They tried to steal his phone but ended up fleeing the scene empty-handed.

Swindon CID have been working on the case and analysing CCTV in the area. These efforts have indicated people of interest to the case.
