The first homes have been released for sale at a development on the former Redlands Airfield near Swindon.

Bellway is building 81 new homes in the first phase of Redlands Grove, off Wanborough Road to the east of the town.

Bellway say the scheme will include 65 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale and 16 affordable properties for rent or shared ownership. The house styles will be from Bellway’s Artisan Collection.

The first homes went on the market on Saturday 25 February and are being sold from the sales centre at Bellway’s Ridgeway Park development in nearby Wroughton.

Sales Manager for Bellway South West, Rachel Way, said: “There was already a lot of interest in Redlands Grove, as it is a desirable location, convenient for Swindon town centre and the M4.

“This former grass strip airfield is surrounded by the picturesque Wiltshire countryside and the homes we are building are high quality and meet the local need for housing.

“Our sales launch went very well, and it is good to see the development moving on to the next stage, giving people the chance to find out more about the homes and reserve a property off-plan.”

Redlands Grove is part of a new neighbourhood of up to 370 homes on a 46-acre site which has outline planning permission in place.

Bellway has submitted detailed plans for a second phase of a further 97 homes on the site including 17 more affordable properties, as part of the wider project. This application is currently waiting for consideration by Swindon Borough Council.

The wider scheme, which is being built in conjunction with homebuilder Vistry Group, will result in more than £5.3 million in developer contributions as part of the planning agreements for the site. This will be paid by both developers.

More than £3 million of that sum will be spent on education, while sports facilities will receive more than £820,000, healthcare will get more than £200,000 and bus services will get £277,500.
