Bellway South West, which is building new homes at Ridgeway Park off Marlborough Road in Wroughton, donated £500 to Wroughton Carnival.

The event took place on Weir Field on Saturday 9 July.

This year’s attractions featured the return of the traditional parade of floats for the first time since 2019. The whole carnival was cancelled in 2020, due to the pandemic, and took place without the parade last year.

As many as 5,000 people went along on the day, which featured a host of festivities including 53 stalls, a dog show, gymnasts, and a swordfighting display, alongside live music and other entertainment.

Sally Parker, Entertainments Manager and Sponsorship Officer of Wroughton Carnival, said: “As part of my position as sponsorship officer, I contacted a host of businesses in the area, both small and large, to see who would be willing to sponsor our carnival.

"Bellway stood out as an obvious candidate, having supported our carnival before and given their large presence in the village.

“All donations by our sponsors help us to cover the cost of the festivities, with all profits raised going to local schools and societies who took part on the day, as well as other charitable causes in the community.

“We are fortunate to have had support from a number of local businesses, as well as from the local police and firefighters who had a presence on the field. All their help, alongside the volunteers, made this event a success, and contributed to its smooth running.

“Myself and the rest of the committee would like to thank Bellway for their contribution as sponsors of Wroughton Carnival. All sponsorship money gives us a chance to provide a bigger and better carnival for the community every year, and we are very much looking forward to putting on a show again next year.”

Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “Part of our mission as a responsible housebuilder involves supporting local initiatives and events in the areas in which we build homes.

"Having sponsored the Wroughton Carnival last year, we were more than willing to play our part again and to lend a helping hand towards what is a spectacular day for visitors and residents alike.

“The event was well attended and was a fun day for all. It was great to see the village in such high spirits after what has been a challenging few years for us all.”

Ridgeway Park offers a range of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £377,500.
