National company Cinch Self Storage is to open a site at the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate next year.

The new location will have 68,000 sqft of lettable space available for domestic and business customers.

Once operational, Cinch Storage Swindon will encompass more than 700 units available for use as self-storage rooms, workshops and retail units, as well as office spaces for companies of any size.

Taken together, the company says, these spaces will help boost the local economy, attract businesses to the area, and drive local job creation.

Company co-founder Richard Owen said: “We are delighted to be adding a new spacious site to our growing portfolio and bringing ourself-storage offering to residents and businesses in Swindon.

"Today our portfolio exceeds 850,000 sqft of assets in operation or development, and we are continually on the lookout for opportunities to acquire additional sites.

With a firm eye on sustainability, we have designed the facility with the needs and priorities of local businesses in mind.

"Through regenerating a neglected brownfield site, implementing a number of environmentally-friendly, and offering ideal work spaces for entrepreneurs and businesses – Cinch Storage Swindon will offer win-wins for the local economy and the environment.”

The facility will incorporate a number of environmentally-friendly features, including:

- Water efficiency - the property will be equipped with low-use appliances and control devices to reduce water consumption and pollution

- Energy efficiency - low energy fitting and LED auto presence sensor lighting will be installed to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions

- Supporting biodiversity: the site will be fitted with bat and bird boxes, with extensive landscaping planned to promote biodiversity and improve the local environment

The site is one of nine Cinch currently has under development, with facilities in three expected to open later this year, adding to its existing portfolio of 14 operating sites.

Cinch Storage was launched in 2018 by co-founders Richard Owen and Joshua Nimmo, and now employs over 40 full-time staff.

The company maintains a strong presence in the South East, with sites trading in Bicester, Brentwood, Brighton, Chippenham, Earlsfield, Enfield, Gillingham, Huntingdon, Leighton Buzzard, Letchworth, Mitcham, Newbury, Newmarket, and Sittingbourne.
