Specialist security firm SSGC has joined forces with a social enterprise which helps veterans find work.
Swindon-based SSGC has partnered with the British Forces Resettlement Service (BFRS), an organisation set up to support the armed forces community by introducing them to companies looking to hire, re-train or offer career advice.
BFRS runs jobs fairs across the UK, which are attended by an average of 600 personnel from the armed forces community and feature more than 60 exhibitors. The next event takes place at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire on Thursday, 7 April.
David Stubbs, CEO of SSGC and a former military policeman, said: “Support for the armed forces community is embedded in our company values and the partnership with BFRS is a very natural one for us.
“We’re looking forward to the first jobs fair at Catterick and letting more veterans know about the varied and rewarding careers we have on offer at SSGC.”
BFRS managing director Neil Dean said: “Many of our exhibitors recognise the wealth of experience and valuable skillsets that ex-military personnel have.
“We are seeing more and more companies sign up and we are delighted SSGC has partnered with us to exhibit at our face-to-face events and advertise its vacancies on our website.”
A signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, SSGC employees more than 500 veterans and helps many combat physical and mental challenges as they settle back into life after service.
During the first national lockdown it worked with the Yorkshire Regiment to deploy staff to marshal covid testing centres around the country – many of whom were veterans.
The firm, which achieved 1,500 per cent revenue growth year-on-year in 2021, ranked 10th in the Infologue 2021 Top 45 UK Security Companies.
