Hillier Funeral Service - a family run and independent funeral business - says its pleased to announce its move from Victoria Road to Kinsghill House in Old Town.
A spokesperson for the business said: "It has been a two and half year project from the offer being accepted to finishing the renovations. We are so pleased with the final result, our dream was to create an inviting and relaxing space for our clients to arrange funerals, visit their loved ones and even hold the funeral service. We’ve given the building a new lease of life and opened it back up to the community."
Kingshill House, an iconic building in Swindon, was a maternity hospital for a number of years. The Hillier team will be holding an open week from Monday 28 November – Friday 2 December for anyone who wishes to come and have a look around. Finishing on 2 December, there will be a Christmas tree so visitors can place a message for their loved ones.
The Hillier team will have two arrangement offices, three peaceful chapels of rest, a grand service room to hold funerals with up to 40 mourners, parking and two caretaker's flats.
The service room will give families another venue option if they want an intimate funeral, hold a service before a burial or simply do not wish to attend the crematorium. The team say they will be the only funeral service in Swindon to offer this.
