A Newland Homes senior sales consultant is marking her 17th year with the South West-based housebuilder.

For the past two years Jayne Palmer, from Blunsdon, has enjoyed an effortless commute to work from her home at Broad Blunsdon Heights, built by Newland Homes in 2018, to the company’s latest development on Broad Blunsdon High Street, called Skylark Meadow.

Construction work started at Skylark Meadow on the former Thames Water site in 2019, transforming the brownfield land into 37 three, four and five-bedroom homes, including eleven affordable homes.

Since then, the development has won two awards from the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) for high standards of construction and site management, and the firm says homes have proven very popular with buyers.

Jayne said: “It’s been a joy welcoming so many people into their new homes over the last 17 years and my local knowledge has come in particularly handy in Blunsdon, where I can point people to my favourite local pub, the Hart in Hand, or tell them all about the excellent gin and tonics at the Blunsdon House Hotel!

"It’s a wonderful village community with a lot to offer and I’m honoured to say I live here.  The people I have sold a home to are no longer my clients, but also my neighbours too.”

Newland Homes says Skylark Meadow’s popularity is due in part to the sustainability initiatives built into the homes, such as solar PV panels which result in about a 20 percent reduction in carbon emissions.  As home working looks to become a more permanent fixture in people's lives, a good broadband connection is imperative, and Skylark Meadow also boasts pre-installed superfast fibre broadband.

Since joining Newland Homes in 2005, Jayne has worked on many developments across the region and has enjoyed some particularly easy commutes to work.  She bought the first plot at Broad Blunsdon Heights, next door to the sales office, so her commute to work was less than a minute.

Skylark Meadow is a very different design aesthetic to Broad Blunsdon Heights, as Newland Homes believes that each handpicked location warrants its own palette of materials and finishes.  The development of 57 homes at Broad Blunsdon Heights, on the other side of Ermin Street near the A419, won Swindon Borough Council’s Local Authority Building Control, Best New Housing Development Award in 2019.

Marcus Evans, Sales & Marketing Director for Newland Homes, said: “Jayne is an integral part of our close-knit team and has been invaluable since she joined Newland Homes nearly two decades ago.  There’s no greater endorsement than when one of our team buys a home that we’ve built.

"Just like Broad Blundson Heights, Skylark Meadow is another example of our transformative approach to development, creating something bespoke for the area.”
