To celebrate National Doughnut Week Swindon based company Pipp & Co have teamed up with chai producers Henny & Joe’s to create a limited edition.
The chai-flavoured filled cinnamon doughnut will be on sale from 18 May, and if it proves popular will make a regular guest appearance in the range.
Each week Swindon-based Pipp & Co bakes around 20,000 doughnuts, all made from natural ingredients, with no additives or preservatives. The new chai and cinnamon variety will be available at the farmers’ markets Pipp & Co visit, and from its online store.
At the end of National Doughnut Week, which runs from 18 to 26 May, Pipp & Co will make a donation to the charity backed by the event, The Children’s Trust, which supports children with brain injury.
Betina Evangelista, who runs Pipp & Co with husband Mario said: “We reached out to Henny & Joe’s because we love the chai products they make and we wanted to create a special doughnut for National Doughnut Week.
“They have the same ethos as we do, producing a quality product using only natural ingredients. We thought a chai flavoured, filled doughnut would be a great addition to our range.”
Lottie Heynen runs Henny & Joe’s with partner Ash Bailey, and the company is named after the couple’s two sons. They started producing chai concentrate when Ash – who was working in a café – realised the quantity of additives and sugar used in regular, powdered chai.
With the fast-growing popularity of chai latte, Henny & Joe’s products – which use only natural ingredients and are caffeine-free - are now available in independent coffee shops and retailers, and via Amazon.
Lottie said: “We work with independent companies who have the same sort of ethos as ours, and Pipp & Co ticked all the boxes. The doughnuts they have created are very tasty, and the chai goes so well with the cinnamon bun.”
Pipp & Co doughnuts and other products are available through stockists from Reading to Oxford, and from Stroud to Bristol. For more information, people can visit https://www.pipp.co/.
