Swindon's Pearce Funeral Services have signed up to the Fair Funeral Pledge.
The purpose of the pledge is to encourage funeral directors across the UK to address the national funeral poverty crisis from within the funeral industry. Around 35% of funeral directors across the UK have now signed up the pledge.
A spokesperson for the funeral directors said: "By signing the pledge, we are recognising that funerals can be expensive and that many people struggle with the cost.
"We have made a commitment to be open with our families about the costs involved in funerals and to ensure that we always offer the most affordable options to help them to plan a funeral that is within their means.
"We will always do this with courtesy and respect, for both your loved one and yourself, listening to your wishes and guiding you with all options available to ensure you can say goodbye in the most fitting way."
The Funerals Pledge 2021, makes the following voluntary commitment:
- To help people to find funerals that are within their means.
- To be open about the price of services and when the final balance is due, including third party costs, in initial conversations, within their price lists, and on their website.
The pledge also asks funeral directors to be open about the amount of any deposit required, although Pearce Funeral Services do not require any type of deposit.
If you have any questions regarding the pledge, please feel free to speak to a member of the team at Pearce.
