Swindon's Platform Project is holding a celebration event to honour the work of young people who have benefited from its services.

The Platform Project is a youth development organisation based in Dorcan.

It runs a 'training workplace’ where young people develop their employability skills, confidence and CV experiences through live and trading youth-led business projects.

The organisation was set up by local entrepreneur Sadie Sharp, and since launching four years ago has helped over 100 young people improve their employability prospects.

Sadie said: “We are hosting a celebration event to showcase our latest group of entry level talent to potential employers. Our current interns have been building their work ready skills and have undertaken a variety of projects ranging from writing blog posts, graphic design for magazines and building websites to designing and producing their own branded products and shooting promotional videos.

"We hope business owners and employers from across Swindon will show their support.”

The event will be held at The Platform Project’s premises in Faraday Road, Dorcan, at 5pm on Thursday, 14 October. It will also be an open evening and networking event.

Local professionals, organisations and other youth agencies are welcome to attend, as are prospective members and and their parents, who can visit to learn more about how it can support young people in launching their careers.

Sadie Sharp said: “We are so proud of the young people we work with and the standout achievements that our young people produce whilst they are with us, so we would love for more people to come and visit us and talk to the interns about what they do and how it could lead to some potential employment opportunities.

“Many of us have missed face-to-face networking events and we are looking forward to the interns being able to practice their networking skills and make new professional contacts.”

The event will also include a graduation ceremony for the interns who have finished their programme, and provide an opportunity for other local youth agencies to discuss how The Platform Project could help the young people they are working with.
