The move comes as construction nears completion at its new Gilbert Place Retirement Living Plus development on Lowry Way.

Once complete, the Swindon development will feature a collection of one and two-bedroom low-maintenance apartments for people aged 70 and over.

Apartments will be available for off-plan sales this summer, with the first occupants expected to be welcomed early next year.

To reinforce its commitment to the local community, McCarthy Stone is now looking to pledge its support to a worthy neighbourhood project, charity, or one-off event.

Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “It is very important when creating a new development that we actively look to integrate into the local community.

"Our charity appeal in Swindon allows us to create important ties with local groups and neighbourhood projects, helping us all to build a positive legacy together.

This is particularly important at a time when we begin to emerge from the restrictions that will have hampered charities’ efforts to raise much-needed funds. We encourage any local groups who are interested to get in touch now.”

Contact can be made by emailing [email protected] by 28 May, with emails marked ‘Swindon Community Appeal’ in the subject header.

McCarthy Stone says future homeowners at the Gilbert Place Retirement Living Plus development will have access to a stylish and welcoming homeowners’ lounge, which will be perfect for socialising with new neighbours.

There will be landscaped gardens maintained by McCarthy Stone’s team and a guest suite for when family and friends come to stay.

An estate manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development, while secure entry systems and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace of mind.

The firm says more than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 16 years running.

McCarthy Stone also received the Housebuilder Special Recognition Award 2020 for working hard to protect its customers – covid infection rates among homeowners are significantly below the national rate of infection across all age groups – and for innovation in the retirement sector.
