A new speakers’ platform has filled its books with 50 speakers since April and new applicants are being put on a waiting list.

Swindon-based PR consultancy Scott Media launched ‘Scott Media Speakers’ to give its clients an additional way of raising their profile by taking on speaking engagements.

The doors were also opened to other speakers, and within just a few weeks the maximum of 50 has been reached. Already, a waiting list is being compiled.

Lauren Roberts, of Scott Media, said they were delighted with how the platform had taken off and impressed with the range and quality of the speakers, who come from all walks of life.

They include Paralympians (current and retired), an allergy campaigner, authors, a menopause expert, and a personal trainer. Some are focusing on personal stories, others on areas of business expertise.

The 50th to join was antiques expert David Harper, who has appeared on TV shows including Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt.

Lauren said: “There are so many interesting people on the platform, and I have been astounded by their stories and the range topics they want to cover.

“There are some common themes, including dealing with burnout, resilience and inclusion.”

Scott Media Speakers is actively promoting the speakers through its own PR, including via social media channels and regular blog posts. Bookings are picking up and one professional speaker and author has been signed up for a series of keynote addresses.

Organisations looking to book a speaker via Scott Media Speakers can choose from one of four tiers, where speakers have been placed depending on factors such as their level of experience.

Each has an online profile, with a short bio and details of the topics they can talk about.

Lauren said: “It’s early days, but already we have our first booking secured while currently liaising on a number of enquiries.

"We’ll keep the number at fifty for this year, so we can really get going with the speaking engagements but may look to extend it next year. In the meantime, new applicants are being put on a waiting list.

“We offer a diverse range of speakers, all of whom have been vetted, and – unlike those with many agencies – a lot of our speakers just want an opportunity to share their expertise; they aren’t in it for a big fee. This is the gap we are aiming to fill.”
