The team from Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Swindon has made a £1,000 donation to the Harbour Project - a charity aiding refugees and asylum seekers in the city.
The Harbour Project supports individuals and families who seek asylum or have been granted refugee status in Swindon, helping them to rebuild their lives.
The charity provides advice, support, practical help and friendship to those seeking assistance, working towards the best possible chance of a fair hearing, a fair outcome from asylum claims and a fair future in the UK.
David Tindal, General Manager at Amazon in Swindon, said: “The Harbour Project is a great asset to the Swindon community. We hope our donation will support the staff and volunteers at The Harbour Project to continue to be there for those who need them.”
Mike Ogbomo, an employee from Amazon in Swindon who nominated the charity for support, said: “The Harbour Project provides hope, advice and friendship to so many people in our city. Thank you, Amazon, for supporting a great charity.”
The Harbour Project team, added: “We would like to say a big thank you to David and the team at Amazon in Swindon. At The Harbour Project we provide a safe space for refugees and asylum seekers in the area and this donation will help us continue to give our visitors hope for a fairer future.”
The donation to The Harbour Project was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
Amazon says it is also providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
