GR8PAY decided to make Swindon its base of operations to mount what the firm describes as an attack on the big online payment providers.

The track record of founder and CEO Jamie Hall includes creating successful payment gateways in South Africa and the UAE.

He secured funding from established international technology investors, enabling the business to break into the UK online payments market.

The firm said in a statement: "Gr8pay has set itself the ambitious goal of becoming the number one E-commerce payment gateway in the UK, for both merchants and website developers.

"The portal already has easy integrations into the leading website platforms Wordpress and Magento, with APi’s also already up and running into WooCommerce and many other E-commerce platforms too.

"GR8PAY’s clear plans for rapid growth and strategic partnerships with some of the world’s largest card providers has the firm set up on the right foot for a successful launch on 11 of August.

"GR8PAY’s payment portal offers a multitude of benefits to businesses looking to take payments online.  GR8PAY’s simple low price point, no contract, no set-up fee and no monthly fee model is accessible to even the smallest of start-ups.

"Their low cost yet high value payment portal is based on class-leading technology already implemented and proven by the GR8PAY development team.

"The coding behind the gateway is highly secure and PCI level 1 compliant, with a host of complex data algorithms designed to prevent fraud and keep merchants and their buyers safe.

"Businesses who choose GR8PAY as their payment partner will have access to features which are usually only available at a much higher price point."

One of these features, the firm added, is POS on Mobile, which enables merchants to use their phones, tablets or laptop to take card payments at point of sale.  For a merchant it means they can now take card payments anywhere they can get a 4G data signal or Wi-Fi signal.

The GR8PAY portal also enables businesses to have an unlimited number of virtual terminals, allowing them to have every member of staff able to take card payments on their PC/laptop/tablet or mobile.
