Swindon web design specialists shortlisted for prestigious national awards for the second year running

Swindon-based web and graphics agency GEL Studios has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Ecommerce Developer Of The Year atthe 2018 Digital Entrepreneur Awards (DEAs).

The agency based in North Swindon, produce websites, graphic design and high quality print and marketing assets for companies, business and individuals across the South West. 

Graeme Leighfield, founder and MD of GEL Studios said: “We’re thrilled to be nominated for such a prestigious award. Ecommerce is a rapidly expanding, competitive market and this demonstrates we’re ahead of the game when it comes to working in the tech field. 

“This is the second time we’ve been nominated in these awards – in 2017 we were thrilled to be named winners of the Web Development Project of the Year for our work on The Lost Cinema project.”

The DEAs are the only national awards dedicated to championing digital entrepreneurialism and innovation across the UK. Gel Studios beat off competition from hundreds of businesses across 20 award categories. 

Now in their 14thyear, the DEAs recognise every aspect of today’s online business network. Categories include Social Media Campaign of the Year, Most Innovative use of Video or Animation and the coveted Digital Entrepreneur of the Year award. 

Previous winners include retail giants Sainsbury’s and Mothercare as well as digital specialists such as Social Chain and Clicky Media.

One of the UK’s tech heavyweights joins the judging panel this year. President of techUK and chair of Digital Leaders, Jacqueline de Rojas serves on the government’s Digital Economy Council and is an advisor to a number of fast-moving tech companies.

Commenting on the DEAs, she said: “We are known as a nation of innovators and of entrepreneurs. It is quite simply a privilege to judge the technologies and innovators at the frontier of change. 

 “The UK is a nation of technological significance and shining a light on entrepreneurship in this space is a way of investing in our digital future. 

“I have seen the smallest of changes make the biggest of differences and I am delighted to see the creativity of our digital entrepreneurs fixing real-world problems that are worth solving.”

The awards take place in Manchester at The Principle Hotel, Manchester on Thursday November 22.
