Wroughton Carnival is taking place this Saturday at the Weir Field in the village centre.

The day will kick off with the traditional float procession at 1pm with entrants from local schools, community groups and charities leading off from the Fox & Hounds and The White Hart.

Activities on offer on the Weir Field include fairground rides, community stalls, vintage engines display and live performances from Crossing Adam, RonStars, Nothing compares to Uke, Stage Starz School and The Tribe.

In addition there is the Dog Show, sponsored by Drove Vets, which you can enter on the day for £2.50 so if your dog has the waggliest tale, best child handler or is simply so beautiful the judges would like to take them home please bring them with you.

Zoe Spurgeon, the carnival’s chair, said she has been overwhelmed by the amount of support received from local businesses. She said: “I am so proud to be a resident of Wroughton. It truly is fantastic to see the community coming together. We have had support from local people who have volunteered and businesses have donated cash and raffle prizes. So a massive thank you to all those who have helped”.

The Carnival will be finishing at 6pm and then the festivities will continue into the evening with live music at pubs across the village.
