Barratt David Wilson Homes South West has donated £1,500 to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).

It marks the second time the housebuilder, whose projects include building new homes at Wichelstowe, has contributed to the organisation’s vital work to aid Wiltshire’s service members, veterans and their families.

The donation will help fund SSAFA’s local branch, service committees and specialist services in Wiltshire.

Jenny King, Head of Corporate Engagement at SSAFA, said: “Donations like these are essential so we can continue to provide on-the-ground personal support to those in our Armed Forces community who are battling life’s darkest problems.”

SSAFA’s trained welfare advisors and volunteers work closely with individuals to tailor support to their specific needs with the organisation’s mission more critical than ever during the current economic climate.

“As cost-of-living struggles affect the entire country, service members and their families are hit particularly hard, which makes SSAFA’s work more important than ever,” said Jenny. “As a charity heavily reliant on donations from businesses and individuals across the UK, contributions from local companies like Barratt David Wilson Homes South West are invaluable.”

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “We’re honoured to support SSAFA’s mission and help make a meaningful difference in the lives of Armed Forces personnel and their families.”

Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s donation comes at a time when SSAFA is gearing up for a series of exciting fundraising activities throughout 2025.

Highlights include the SSAFA 13 Bridges Challenge, the London Marathon, and the Kiltwalks, as well as an ultra-challenge event called Fire and Ice in March, where four ex-military personnel will navigate the frozen landscape of Sweden. Additionally, SSAFA will celebrate its 140th anniversary next month plus the 80th anniversaries of V-E and V-J Days.
