Swindon pubs, The Crown Inn in Stratton and The Carpenter’s Arms in South Marston, this week have launched their Christmas Present Appeal. They are asking for donations of gifts which will be given to four local charities.

Swindon’s homeless charity, Threshold; the Prospect Hospice, children’s cancer charity, CALM and the Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group are their four chosen charities.

The pubs launched this year’s appeal after running the campaign for the last 4 years, previously supporting charities like Swindon’s Women’s Aid. Tanya Lewis, Manager at The Crown Inn said, “This year we have chosen four different charities in the hope we can help more people. We want to brighten the Christmases of those who don’t have a home this Christmas or who have been effected by cancer. We always like to support good causes and this year is no different.”

“We are looking for donations of new warm clothes, like hats, gloves and scarves, toiletries and blankets for Threshold. Toiletries, books and chocolates for the Prospect. Board games, baby books and annuals for CALM and goody bags and colouring books for the Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group.”

“Our customers are always so supportive of our fundraising events and we are sure this will be no different. We can’t thank them enough for their support.”

Gifts can be dropped at the Crown Inn in Ermin Street up until 16 December. More information is available on the Crown Inn’s Facebook page or you can call the Crown direct on 01793 827530.
