A local charity’s dare devil fire walk challenge may be the shortest sponsored walk but possibly one that makes the most difference.

This evening of fun and fire is being held on Friday 13 October at Royal Wootton Bassett Football Club, from 6.30pm to help raise funds for Prospect Hospice. The event is suitable for people of all physical abilities over the age of 15, taking strength of mind to conquer fears and complete the fire walk.

Before taking on this ultimate sizzling challenge, participants will undergo an hour’s motivational tuition on how to safely fire walk from the UK Firewalk Team and twice Guinness world record holder for longest fire walk distance, Scott Bell, one of the world’s leading experts on fire walking. When the fire has burned to red-hot embers reaching 1,200 degrees, the surface will be raked level ready for fundraisers to walk over the coals.

Sheryl Crouch, head of income at Prospect Hospice, said: “We are thrilled to offer this heart racing and adrenaline inducing event and hope that the brave people of Swindon will join us.

“Challenge yourself, your friends, your family and colleagues, or invite them to cheer you on as you channel your mind over matter strength to walk across the fiery coals. You’ll not only feel capable of doing anything once across but you’ll also be making a real difference to the lives of local people needing our care.”

Taking part costs just £25 per person and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship to help support local people and their families at the end of their lives. To help, a fundraising page will be set up automatically for you when you register and the charity’s dedicated team will be there to support you every step of the way with ideas to help reach your target.
