Along with fellow Team Link members Laura Johnson, Amy O'Reilly, and Kieran McCarthy, together with others walking for the hospice, he aims to cover 60km in some of the world's harshest conditions over the coming days.
Jamie said in a message posted earlier today: "I get to meet some camels today.
"We arrived in Marrakesh last night and today face a nine-hour bus journey to The Sahara, where we will be doing a 5k night trek to kick things off.
"This is where I’ll meet the camels.
"There’s a mix of excitement and trepidation amongst the 14 of us. All of us are here for our own reasons but all of us have been touched in some way by Prospect Hospice.
"I’m also aware that this might be the last time I’ll be able to post for a few days as I don’t reckon there’ll be any wifi in the desert, but I bet there’ll be a Mcdonalds!
"So tonight and the next few nights we’ll all be camping under the Sahara night sky.
"And there’ll be camels."
