North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson and Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS) have joined forces to ensure that families affected by domestic abuse can enjoy the Easter period.
While many people can enjoy the beginning of spring and the Easter period, for families living in the refuge or otherwise supported by SDASS things are a little less bright.
To bring some springtime happiness, Justin and SDASS are launching an Easter Egg Appeal and are asking for people to donate chocolate Easter eggs, which will be distributed to families living in the refuge or supported by SDASS in the community.
This will be the second Easter Egg collection that the MP and SDASS have held, following the overwhelming success of last year’s appeal, which saw more than 100 eggs donated.
The cut-off date for donations is Monday, 3 April, and eggs can be delivered to the Customer Service Hub at the Orbital Shopping Park.
Mr Tomlinson said: “Families finding themselves in the refuge or supported by SDASS have experienced very difficult circumstances, a simple gift of an Easter Egg can really make their day and let them know someone is thinking of them.
"It would be amazing if people could pick up one extra Easter Egg to donate to the appeal and help brighten someone’s day.”
