Wiltshire Community Foundation is looking for individuals who are passionate about Wiltshire and Swindon to join their board of trustees, as the charity enters an exciting new chapter.
Founded in 1975, the Foundation is one of the largest grant-giving organisations in Wiltshire and Swindon, and in 2023/24, they awarded over £2.1 million supporting more than 72,500 people across the county, tackling a wide range of local need. Throughout the past year, the charity has focused their work on addressing inequality, improving mental health and wellbeing, and supporting both children and young people, and older people.
As the charity enters their 50th anniversary, they are searching for new members to join their board of trustees and are particularly interested in those with a background in either accountancy or audit, or within the voluntary sector.
Trustees play a crucial role in guiding the Foundation, as they look to continue to inspire local giving and support community groups and the voluntary sector. Successful applicants will help to advise the charity as they embark on their new five-year strategy, which focuses on creating a brighter, more inclusive future through the critical role of philanthropy in local development.
Previous experience of sitting on a board isn’t required, nor is a university degree, and the Foundation encourages applications from those who wouldn’t usually consider themselves for the role.
Applications close on 31 March, and Wiltshire Community Foundation encourage those who are interested in the position to read the trustee recruitment pack on their website, which provides full details on the role of a trustee, and information on how to apply.
Wiltshire Community Foundation’s joint Chief Executive, Vicky Hickey said: “This is a great opportunity to be a part of a forward-thinking organisation, who is striving to make a tangible, long-term difference in our communities. We are looking for new trustees who want to play a significant role in our exciting future, help us to inspire local giving to support the voluntary sector, and help our county thrive.
“What’s important to us is a keen interest in Wiltshire and Swindon, a commitment to creating positive change for our local communities, and a willingness to contribute time, attention and passion to the role, to our thinking and to the future success of our organisation.
“We want to reflect the communities we support by bringing a range of diverse voices, skills, backgrounds and experiences to our board, and we encourage people who would usually not consider themselves in this role to apply or contact us to find out more.”
