If you’re yet to start your Christmas shopping, one local charity is here to help with their online auction of gifts to suit everyone.
Prospect Hospice’s aptly titled ‘Presents for Prospect’ Christmas auction sets out to create a list of gifts with something for everyone. Whether you’re buying for family or friends, or even for yourself, there’s something in the 100 auction lots that will take your fancy.
Each auction prize has been generously donated by a local business and all the money raised through the auction will go directly to the charity to support the care of local people who are terminally ill.
Jeremy Lune, chief executive at Prospect Hospice, said: “When we set out on the idea of the auction we thought we’d have a few prizes but to have almost 100 donated by local businesses is incredible. This wouldn’t be possible without their support so I want to thank each and every one of them for their kind and generous donations.
“We know times are tough for people at the moment so the lots we have up for auction are designed to be affordable to local bidders. We have a range of prizes up for grabs including meals out, books, brownies, beauty treatments, homeware, family days out and more. If you win your item, you’ll get a present that’s great for you and you’ll also be giving a donation to the hospice – I call it ‘one purchase, two gifts’. It’s a win-win for everyone and your Christmas shopping could be sorted well before December arrives.”
The online auction opens early on Friday 10 November and runs until late on Sunday 19 November and works much like eBay – place your bid and see if you win. Auction lots from local businesses include a Sunday roast for two people at The Hop Inn, a one hour drum workshop from Bang to Rites Drummers, swimming lessons from Learn to Swim with Lesley, hair and beauty vouchers from Chickkks Hair Salon, Lil Beauty and Mr Cut Turkish Barber, brownies from Lizzy Bakes, a signed copy of ‘Rambling Man’ by Billy Connolly, Rick Stein and Body Shop hampers and family admission to Pendon Museum . The hospice has also got lots up for auction including lunch for two, including a drink, in their Heart of the Hospice café.
