Persimmon Homes Wessex has given a £1000 donation to charity Stronger Children for their Wiltshire retreat.

Stronger children is a charity that helps to provide vulnerable young children a safe environment to receive counselling and therapy.

The charity has received the £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Wessex as part of the homebuilder's Community Champions scheme.

Persimmon Homes says it makes £64,000 a month available to fund local community initiatives across the UK.

Stronger Children has a retreat based in Wiltshire that offers troubled children a friendly environment that aims to empower them to rebuild their confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Support is also available to parents, health professionals and carers. The charity's activity centre offers a range of indoor and outdoor games to help stimulate the body and mind.

Steve Cartledge, Founder and Director of Stronger Children said: “We’re only just getting started so to receive this donation from Persimmon Homes is absolutely fantastic news.

“We’ve been looking to raise £1,000 to create a new website and promotional video to increase awareness of our project and to raise funds.

“There’s a greater need than ever for young children and adolescents to have counselling to overcome stumbling blocks in their formative years.

“This project will go some way to helping hundreds of children and families across Wiltshire to receive the help they desperately need.”

Funding for the retreat is reliant on donations from the public and local businesses which the charity said has been hard to come by in recent times, Steve says he still has ambitious plans for the future.

He added: “In order for the Stronger Children retreat to be sustainable, we need to raise at least £180,000 by the end of 2021.

“We’ve got an incredible team of experienced and qualified childcare professionals already in place but we need guaranteed funding to be able to carry out this essential work.

“We can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for their support and hopefully this news will elevate our status in the area.”

Pauline Fletcher, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “When we received the application from Steve it was obvious that we had to help because it’s such an amazing cause.

“The importance of this facility for the welfare of vulnerable children in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas can’t be put into words so it’s great to be able to support them with this £1,000 donation.

“Hopefully it will give them a head start and they to go on to reach their targets for the rest of the year.”
