LGBTQ+ charity Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is offering free sanitary products during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Swindon and Wiltshire Pride pop-up shop is set to reopen in the Brunel Centre on Saturday, 5 December after it was forced to close due to Government restrictions, and the charity will be offering a range of free sanitary products when it returns.

Phoenix Stewart, the charity’s community engagement and inclusion manager, said: “Over the last few weeks, we’ve had time to think about how we could provide additional support to the community through our shop when we reopen.

"That's why throughout December we will be offering free sanitary products to anyone who needs them.

"With many people in Britain unable to afford sanitary products, we wanted to reach out to those struggling at this difficult time.”

The Pride pop-up shop was launched to provide a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, with a selection of information about local services available.

The charity will also have Pride gifts for sale, raising funds for Swindon and Wiltshire Pride 2021,

which is Sponsored by Nationwide Building Society.

Phoenix added: "We have also been working closely with the Sexual Health Department at Great Western Hospital, who have kindly donated condoms which will be available for free in the shop.

"We would like to give a massive thank you to Great Western Hospital and ASDA for the donations.”

The Pride pop-up shop will be located next to Buzz Gym. The space will be open from Saturday, 5 December on selected dates through the month.
