Would-be volunteers are being asked to look into giving a regular shift to Prospect Hospice’s Distribution Centre in an open morning there on Saturday 2 February.

The Distribution Centre is the hub of the charity’s retail operation, and it is where donated items are received and sent out to the 17 shops that collectively raise income of more than £2M towards the care of thousands of patients each year. The hospice team are especially keen to recruit new volunteers to help sort and prepare the good quality items that are sold in its shops, and are inviting the public to come to the Distribution Centre in Wroughton at the start of next month to learn more.

“Volunteers are vital to everything we do at Prospect Hospice, whether that’s supporting the care of patients or work like this in the Distribution Centre,” says Voluntary Services Operations and Recruitment Officer Graham Biggs. “We are grateful to all the volunteers who support us, but there is never a time when we couldn’t do with more. That’s why we would like to invite would-be volunteers over to the Distribution Centre just to find out more about how they might be able to help their local hospice. They can come along, get an idea of what volunteering at the Distribution Centre is all about, and we’ll even have the kettle on so everyone can get a hot drink – and maybe even a biscuit!”

The Distribution Centre is at Wroughton Business Park on Moormead Road and will be open from 9.30 a.m. until 11.30 a.m. on Saturday 2 February. If you’re not able to make it on the day but would be interested in volunteering for Prospect Hospice, call Graham Biggs on 01793 813355 or email volunteering@prospect-hospice.net.
