Prospect Hospice has opened its latest shop this week, promising a wide range of good quality clothes, bric-a-brac and small items of household furniture at clearances prices.

The new shop, at Basepoint Business Centre in Westlea, is the 18th shop for the charity which provides unparalleled end-of-life care services for people in Swindon, Marlborough and across north east Wiltshire. The retail operation of the hospice is a vital source of income for Prospect Hospice, generating more than £2M for the charity through the donation of goods and the custom of local people.

Prospect Hospice’s interim head of retail Andrea Piper said: “There is a high demand for donated goods and this new shop is a fantastic opportunity for Prospect Hospice to expand our retail operation, and offer reduced price clearance products to our customers.

“We successfully trialled a clearance stall at Blunsdon Market and Car Boot Sale for several months with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers and loyal customers. We wanted to find a more permanent base for this exciting venture and the Basepoint Business Centre offers that. They have made us feel very welcome as the new licensee,” she added.

The new outlet is at unit 93, Basepoint Business Centre on Rivermead Drive in Westlea, and will be open 9am to 4.30pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Andrea added: “We are looking forward to welcoming people to come and see the fantastic items we have on offer, and while they’re visiting perhaps talking about volunteering and fundraising with us. We are all looking forward to welcoming people to our latest shop.”
