The Rotary Club of Swindon North and Thamesdown has announced the result of its Christmas Appeal.

The total gathered from the public by club volunteers was £4,428, which the organisation described as fantastic and thanked everybody who donated.

A spokesperson said members sent their thanks to "...all the lovely people who generously dropped some money in their collecting buckets at Asda in West Swindon and Morrison's in Dorcan in the run up to Christmas.

"The money will be distributed to local charities supported by the Rotary Club of Swindon North and Thamesdown, with a particular emphasis on it going to those working for people who are under-privileged, disabled, abused, or needy for one reason or another."
