Every year Samaritans looks to celebrate and recognise the contribution made by their volunteers during both Volunteers’ Week and National Volunteering Week, which takes place from Monday.

This year is no different, as despite these strange times Swindon & District Samaritans want to acknowledge and thank their amazing volunteers for all that they do to ensure your local branch continues to be able to provide a safe place for anyone who is struggling to cope.
Samaritans have been acknowledged as an essential service with the charity's listening volunteers designated as key workers and they have all risen to the challenge provided by COVID-19 by ensuring their branch remains open to callers, whether on the phone or by email.
Their remarkable volunteers have shown terrific resilience, flexibility and have adapted to different ways of working to be sure we’re always here for anyone who needs someone to talk to.
Susie Higgs, the volunteer branch director says: “On behalf of Swindon & District’s Volunteer Leadership Team to all our awesome volunteers – a very big thank you for continuing to be there … no matter what the weather or how we may be feeling, or even in the face of an unseen but keenly felt virus, you are always there with open ears and the biggest hearts £?”
If you need to talk to Samaritans – they are here around the clock, every single day of the year:

NB: due to COVID-19, they are unable to see callers face to face at this time.
