Voluntary Action Swindon says its Swindon Shopmobility service is ready and waiting to help everybody with mobility issues.

Shopmobility operates all year round but is especially anxious to ensure everybody can access the town centre over the festive season.

A spokesperson said: 'This service is available for anyone with limited mobility and provides a selection of manually-propelled and battery-powered wheelchairs and scooters. These are provided to help people with mobility difficulties when using the facilities in Swindon’s town centre.

"We believe limited mobility should not stop people from being able to go about their daily lives – much more so during the Christmas season.

"We have also recently launched a Service and Maintenance service, where mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs can now be serviced at Swindon Shopmobility.  People will be able to schedule an annual service of a mobility scooter for £50 and, where appropriate, have use of a Shopmobility mobility scooter while their own is being serviced.

"We are also working in partnership with the Gateway Furniture Project to offer a collection and delivery service for private mobility scooters."

Swindon Shopmobility is based in the Sanford House car park in College Street, and is open from 9am to 4pm on weekdays and from 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.

It can be contacted on 07379 689128 and at [email protected]
