The week, which runs until Friday, 6 November, is an annual event which showcases the work that charity trustees do and highlights the opportunities for people to get involved.

There are over 850,000 trustees in England who volunteer their time to make a difference to organisations they are passionate about.

Two new trustees are being sought by Carer Support Wiltshirethe – one with expertise in health and social care and one with legal and governance experience.

Trustees have the opportunity to make a real difference to carers’ lives by helping to develop the organisation’s strategic goals and services.

Trustee Ian Baldwin said: “This is my first trusteeship after doing lots of community-based roles such as radio presenter and school governor. After a serious cycling accident last year I found I had more time on my hands and began to consider how I could give something back.

“As a Mental Health First Aider I also recognise the benefits of volunteering and the positive effect on mental health in terms of enhancing life satisfaction and wellbeing.

“I joined CSW at the height of the covid-19 lockdown and have been impressed by the charity’s ability to adopt new practices, particularly in the digital domain.

"I am keen to help build on the new ways of working forced upon us by covid, however I am also conscious that many of the people we support are digitally excluded and that needs to be factored into CSW’s future digital plans.”

Donna Moore has been a trustee with the charity since February 2020. She said: “Carer Support Wiltshire seemed like the perfect opportunity to share my commercial marketing background within an organisation that I had a personal connection with.

"I was a young carer myself between the ages of 11-15. My father had a terminal brain tumour and between myself and mother we were primary carers with little external support, even at the more acute end of his illness.

“Being a trustee has been better than I imagined! I’ve learned more than I anticipated in a very short time about the third sector.

"It’s an opportunity for skills development and personal growth while knowing that you’re contributing towards something that can really make a difference.”
