The National Garden Scheme has announced two special openings by Swindon's TWIGS Community Garden.

The community garden, which gives people who have experienced mental health issues the opportunity to gain confidence and lean new skills, will open on Sunday, 22 May and Sunday, 17 July.

Each of the openings, from noon until 4pm, will be in aid of the National Garden Scheme, which gives visitors access to more than 3,500 private gardens and raises money for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice UK.

Covering two acres and created and maintained by volunteers, the community garden is at Manor Garden Centre in Cheney Manor.

Its two acres include seven individual display gardens, an ornamental pond, plant nursery, an Iron Age round house, artwork, a fitness trail, a separate kitchen garden site and a wildflower area.

The community garden has been featured in magazines such as Wiltshire Life and Garden Answers.

Admission on the special opening days will cost £3.50 for adults and nothing for children.
